ITI Electrician is a 2 year course , approved by the NCVT (National Council Vocational Training). ITI Electrician Course is a diploma program that focuses on training individuals in the skills required to work as an Electrician.

If you are planning to take admission in the ITI Electrician trade, you must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  • Must have passed Class 10 (Matriculation) from a recognized board
  • Mathematics and Science should be compulsory subjects in 10th standard
  • Minimum age: 14 years
  • Upper age limit may vary depending on state government rules
  • Both boys and girls are eligible
  • Candidates from recognized boards across India can apply

Admission is usually done through:

  • Merit-based selection (based on 10th marks)
    OR
  • State-level ITI entrance exam (in some states)

In the ITI Electrician Trade, there are 5 main subjects covered during the course.

  1. Electrician Trade Theory
    – Covers electrical concepts, wiring systems, machines, safety rules, and electrical calculations.
  2. Electrician Trade Practical
    – Hands-on training in wiring, fitting, installation, testing, and maintenance work.
  3. Workshop Calculation & Science
    – Includes basic mathematics, physics concepts, measurements, and calculations used in electrical work.
  4. Engineering Drawing
    – Teaches how to read and draw electrical diagrams and symbols.
  5. Employability Skills
    – Covers communication skills, basic computer knowledge, entrepreneurship, and workplace behavior.

Two types of exam are conducted every year for course in ITI in Electrician trade.

  • Computer Based Test (CBT): In this exam is conducted through computer .There will be one paper 2 hour duration computer based test, conduct by NCVT all subject details are given in the table.

Course Duration

The ITI Electrician course is a 2-year program divided into 2 semester. Students usually attend classes for 5–6 hours per day, 6 days a week.
